Choosing the genre for our trailer:
In the audience research of last years production was not clearly defined. This year we wanted the genre to be very clearly defined through mise en scene, camera, editing and sound. We chose the genre we were biggest fans of, science fiction.This gives us more freedom and more ideas about how to make a science fiction trailer and how to portray these conventions through mise en scene, camera, editing and sound. This also means that we can clearly define the genre of our film and not make the same mistake as last year.
Furthermore, science fiction films are very popular, with the recent reboot of the 'Star Trek' franchise and the recent announcement of more 'Star Wars' films. Not to mention the recent 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, celebrating this achievement through a feature length special episode released in cinemas.
